You can try to click on Start -> Printers and Faxes. When window with
printers opens up right click on HP Color LaserJet 4600 and select "Set as
Default Printer"
I hope it helps,

however i got this email from Jordan that helped me with my account but
doesn't fix the problem for all users signing on to term serv.
QUESTION- Can i setup a default script that adds this registry entry to the
New user when he signs up for the first time?
Heres the workaround.
Sorta -- here's what we did:
Incident: “SRX051014601342”
Issue: "unable to set default printer in a terminal session"
Resolution: >> Checked following local policy
Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative
Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Client\Server data redirection
folder Do not set default client printer to be default printer in a session
>>disabled this policy
>> checked HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows key in the registry editor.
>> Key is missing.
>>created the key <<This worked for me too! -Dan>>
>>Logged in again with the same user.
>>Now the users can set the printer as default.
They also suggested the following may work (but it didn't for me):
>> Check the permissions on Default User folder in Terminal server
>> If we have Users group missing then Add Users group
>> Grant Read and Read & Execute permissions.
>> Log off the users and delete the user's profile from server
(try this with a test user first)
>> Next time a User logs in; a new profile will be created.
Good luck!
Jordan.
Few more questions...
- are you doing this over Terminal Service or locally?
- what account are you using to try and add default printer?
- can you try another account that also has administrator permission on the
computer? If you don't have one -- can you create one for a test? Let me
know how it goes.

Can you open the registry in to following path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
and check if Windows key exists. If it does is there a String called Device
under it?
If Windows key does not exist, can you create it manually, close the
registry and try to set Default printer.

My question is. how do I create a new user that creates this registry entry.
Is their a scripting process necessary. Going to Computer Management/Users
right click and choose new user does not create this registry entry.
Can you try this....
Add Users group and grant it read execute and read permissions to "Default
User" folder in Terminal server profile. I believe you will have to delete
existing users profiles so next time users log on he/she will get new
profile based on "Default User" profile with appropriate registry key...
