I am getting three errors in while running the ICW to setup exchange. attached is the tail end of the icwlog.txt file.
calling GetDomainAndControllerNames (). Call to GetDomainAndControllerNames () returned ok. calling GetOrganizationName (\\SBIOFOG-ATL01.BioFog.local, DC=BioFog,DC=local). Call to GetOrganizationName () returned ok. calling GetFirstAdministrativeGroup (\\SBIOFOG-ATL01.BioFog.local, DC=BioFog,DC=local, BIOFOG). Call to GetFirstAdministrativeGroup () returned ok. calling GetFirstRoutingGroup (\\SBIOFOG-ATL01.BioFog.local, DC=BioFog,DC=local, BIOFOG, first administrative group). Call to GetFirstRoutingGroup () returned ok. Error 0x80072030 returned from call to SetCookieAuthentication(). Error 0x80072030 returned from call to CEMailCommit::Commit(). calling GetBOConnector (). Error 0x80072030 returned from call to GetBOConnector().
checking this newsgroup, i tried the following, I registered the secatts.dll file and checked to make sure the computer name and domain name were correct, also made sure the DNS was set correctly. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Regarding to the Error 0x80072030 returned from call to GetBOConnector() when you run CEICW
I. The error may occur because the Administrator account does not have an associated mailbox. To resolve the issue, create a mailbox for the Administrator account. To do so:
1. Click Start, click Run, type "dsa.msc" and press ENTER. 2. Expand your domain, click Users. 3. In the right pane, right-click Administrator and click Exchange Tasks.... 4. Select Create Mailbox and click Next. Follow the instructions to finish. 5. Rerun CEICW. Does it run successfully this time?
II. Please double check the DNS server run and configured properly. And please refer to the following Knowledge Base article for more information about CEICW:
If the issue persists, please help get the following information for analysis:
1. The icwlog.txt file in the "%Program Files%\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Support" folder.
2. The icwdetails*.htm in the "%Program files%\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking\ICW\" folder.
3. Can you find any error event log in Event Viewer? If yes, please paste the detail error information in the newsgroup. And also you can save a text copy of the Application/ System log and send to me:
A. Open Event Viewer: Start -> All Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer. B. Right-click on Application/ System log and select "Save Log File As?".
I am currently standing by for your test result. We are glad to be assistance of you!
Have a nice day!

I tried the idea that you suggested and as it turns out there is already an email account associated with the administrator account. running the wizard as you suggested gave no additional option for adding an administrator account and anything simular. I decided to install the Server service pack2 and the small business service pack two and after installing the server service pack and was trying to install the sbs service pack and it indicated that I needed to run the exchange service pack first. I tried to run the exchange service pack and got back an error that exchange was not loaded. However it is loaded. I am going to reinstall exchange and then the service pack for exchange then the sbs service pack then run the ICW and see if it will complete. Can you think of any additional items that I should try besides the ones that I have listed?

Before we continue further troubleshooting the issue, please help me collect some information to isolate the issue:
1. What is your server OS? SBS 2000 or SBS 2003?
>I decided to install the Server service pack2 >and the small business service pack two and after installing the server >service pack and was trying to install the sbs service pack and it indicated >that I needed to run the exchange service pack first. I
2. What is your meaning? Based on my knowledge, there is not SBS SP2 released. The SBS 2003 SP1 includes the following contents: **SBS 2003 SP1 ** Windows Server 2003 SP1 ** Windows SharePoint Services SP1 ** Exchange Server 2003 SP1 ** Outlook 2003 SP1 (applies to each client) ** Windows XP SP2 (applies to each client) ** Active Sync 3.8 (applies to each client) ** SQL Server 2000 SP4 (Premium only) ** ISA 2004 (Premium only) And SBS 2000 only has SBS 2000 SP1 packs.
Before we reinstall exchange server, I suggest that you follow my suggestions to try to troubleshooting the issue:
£É. Go to the SMTP Virtual Server \Properties\Access \relay tab and remove all IPs and ensure only the SBS server Internal NIC lists here. Then rerun ICW to see if the issue fixed.
II. The issue can also occur if the secatts.dll file is missing, damaged or unregistered. Please double check To resolve this issue:
A. If the secatts.dll file exists ---------------- Please go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking and check if the secatts.dll file is there and if so, perform the following steps (I assume you install SBS in the C drive):
a. Click Start -> Run, type "CMD" and click OK. b. Type the following command to change the location.
cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking
c. Type the following command to register this file:
regsvr32 secatts.dll
d. After the registration is successful, check if the issue disappears. If you for some reason cannot register the file or this suggestion does not work the file may be damaged and please refer to "B".
B. If the file does not exist or it's damaged ----------------- If the secatts.dll file does not exist or it's damaged, please perform the following steps to restore it:
a. If the file does exists, rename it to secatts.dll.old. b. Insert your SBS CD#3 into the CD-ROM. c. Open Windows Explorer, browse to the <CD-Drive>:\SBS\CONNECT folder. d. Copy the SECATTS.DLL file to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking folder. e. Open a command prompt, run the following command:
CD C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Networking
f. Register the DLL: regsvr32 secatts.dll g. Check if the issue still occurs. Then rerun ICW to see if the issue fixed.
£Éappreciate your time and efforts to the issue. I am looking forward to your reply!
Have a nice day!

This has turned into a big problem. The SMTP Virtual Server option is not available. I get an error when trying to reinstall Exchange that says: Setup failed while installing sub-component Information Store Service with error code 0x80072030, which is the same code as before. If I look in the exchange install log I see a bunch of errors claiming that the computer is not a member of the domain and that I am logged in locally which is not true. At this point I am not sure if I can salvage the installation of SBS2003. Also when I try and run the Exchange Service Pack it comes back with an error that I need exchange 2003 installed. What to do??????

Thanks for your update! I appreciate your time to the issue.
I. Please refer to the following steps to view the relay option:

Right-click the SBS SMTP Virtual Server to choose properties item to open SMTP virtual server Properties page. Click Access button, then click Relay tab.Remove unknown IPs and ensure only the SBS server Internal NIC lists here. Then rerun ICW to see if the issue fixed. ===================================== II. Please ensure you have configured DNS suffix properly. The primary dns suffix should be set to xxx.local( surely not xxx.local).If it isnot correct, try to correct it and reboot server to rerun CEICW to see if the issue fixed. ===================================== III. Please ensure NICs Binding order is correct: internet network card on the top. To do so: A: Open Network Connections and click the Advanced menu button to Selecte the Advanced Settings. B: Click Adapters and Bindings tab, move the Internal Network card to top in Adaptors and Bindings list.
If not, correct it and rerun CEICW to see if the issue fixed. ===================================== IV. If the issue persists, Please refer to the following KB articles to try to trouleshooting the issue:
