I posted this last week, but not a single reply. Anyone got any ideas?

SBS2003 Std 2NIC 5-user. Two backup problems here:

1. Server Management (SM)|Backup gives error message "The page cannot be
displayed. A problem has occurred with the Manage Small Business Server
Backup snap in. Close and re-open Server Management. If this problem
continues, restart the IIS Admin Service."
(IIS Admin Service is running and restarting does not help).
Go to:http://www.sbsusers.net/techinfo/TSHT_SBS.htm#backup for a trouble
shooter. I can run backup.exe from Start|Run (see Problem 2 below), as
suggested in the troubleshooter. When I try it from the SM it fails to start
(doesn't even make an entry in the Event Viewer).
Note this is NOT the HTTP 400 - Bad Request ("host header value is assigned
to the All Unassigned Internet Protocol (IP) address for the default Web site
in IIS") issue, as all settings in there are as is required by this KB
article.
How can I fix the SM?

2. I can run Start|Run|ntbackup.exe The full backup window opens with choice
of tabs and wizards. I can open or create backup profiles, etc and then run
them. Problem is that partway through a backup ntbackup.exe crashes. The
backup log shows the various files running through and the log suddenly stops
mid-flight. The Event Viewer|Applications shows that NT Backup failed.
Event Error is: Category (100)
EventID: 1000
Computer: Server1
Faulting application ntbackup.exe, version 5.2.3790.70, faulting module
msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.3790.0, fault address 0x000336f8.
Another time I got this error:
Faulting application ntbackup.exe, version 5.2.3790.70, faulting module
ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x00008787.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
The MS link was useless (too general). I cannot find “A matching event with
Event ID 1001“ in the Event Viewer.
The point at which ntbackup.exe crashes is random, but usually after about 2
to 3 minutes. If I do lots of small backups, I can eventually get the whole
lot done! I’ve suspended my VET anti-virus during backup, but this has had no
effect.
What to do? Are problems 1 and 2 related?

Hi MTV -

Add/Remove Programs
Windows Small Business Server

Select to re-install Server Tools, and be sure to select 'Install' for each
item below Server Tools.

Ah - see Marina's reply to your more recent post. She's onto the most
likely culprit. Change those date settings to US specifc (mm/dd/yyyy) and
see if the backup snap-in works then. If not, then try re-installing Server
Tools. :^)
