It seems as though I'm the only one that has the link to outlook option
available for the events calendars. I know it's cause the account has admin
rights, but everyone else is setup as a contributor. why can't anyone else
link to outlook?

Hi

Thanks for your post.

According to your description, I understand that "Link to Outlook" is not
available for the sharepoint in all the non-administrator groups. If I am
off base, please let me know.

Based on my research, you can see Calendar created on WSS side by side once
you link them to the Outlook. You will need to be connected to the
companyweb site from a client that has Outlook 2003 on it. And then if you
go to see the Vacation calendar page on the companyweb you should see the
Link to Outlook option. So if this link is missing on the client computer,
please follow the steps below to see if the problem can be resolved:

1. If you logon on problematic workstation with Domain AD, the
problem still exists or not?
2. If you logon on your workstation with a problematic user, the
problem still exists or not?
3. Please uninstall outlook on one of the problematic workstation to
see if the problem can be resolved?
4. Please check the following registry:
A. Start Registry Editor.
B. Locate the following registry key:
HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\11\Outlook\Preferences\
C. Can you see a registry key named "DisableSTS"? If so, please
delete this key and restart the computer to see the result.

Charles,

Thanks for taking the time to help me. I believe I've figured out the
problem. Since I'm running OfficeXP and Outlook 2003 the problem was with the
Office Web Components, I needed to install OWC11. After that I did an Office
Upate for the Team Services Security update and all is well. Thanks Again.

I installed the OWC11, but that didn't solve my problem of the link to
Outlook button missing from our Sharepoint web page. Having the same problem
as the person below in this email thread. We only have three computers using
the server. One computer works fine. This user has Office 2000 with Outlook
2003 on his computer. The other two machines have worked at one point, but no
longer have the link to Outlook button. Both computers have Office XP with
Outlook 2003. I thought the problem might be the Office XP software, so
followed the advice of the person who started this thread. But, this
installation didn't help. Any other ideas?

When I had this problem, I was asked to logon to a computer that did
display the link with a user from the computer that DID NOT display the
link. When I did that, the link was there, I selected it, then logged
off. When I went back to the computer that was not working, I logged
back in as the normal user, and this time the link was there.

I just tried that before I read your message, and no luck! There's something
with the user's profile and Internet Explorer that is traveling with the
login. I'm going to try updating IE to see if that helps. Thanks, though!!

I've upgraded windows and office, but no luck.

My problem:

running office xp and Outlook 2003. Link to Outlook button in Contacts of
sharepoint page doesn't appear on 2 of 3 computers in the company. The
computer that has the Link to Outlook button is not running office xp.

Can anyone help?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for updates.

Based on my research, to let the "Link to Outlook" option available, you
must have Outlook 2003 installed and ensure WSS Support is also included on
the client. For this issue, it is a WSS side issue.

For SBS 2k3 environment, the Outlook is default application installed to
the client workstation when they join the domain. For client computers that
cannot use the "Link to Outlook" option, I would suggest you to reinstall
outlook 2003 on problematic client, you can install outlook 2003 via the
"Assign application to client computers" wizard from the client computer
node of Server management. Then, assign the outlook 2003 to these computers
that do have not Outlook. After running the wizard, please logoff/logon
again to install the application automatically.

Please export your local PST to another location as backup purpose,
recreate a new e-mail profile. You can refer to following kb article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829918

Thanks for understanding in this issue, if you have any further concerns,
please let me know. I am here waiting for your updates.

I do have Outlook 2003 installed on the two machines that have the problem.
On one machine, Outlook 2003 has been installed since the SBS 2003 was
installed.

The link button worked at one point before I started working here because
the original user of this computer was linked to Outlook. I don't know when
the link to button disappeared. But, now I have a new user and have created
that user and setup Outlook 2003 on this computer for her. Outlook 2003 is
working fine, except for the problem of not being able to link to the
company's contacts.

Considering this information, do I still need to reinstall Outlook 2003?

Hi,

Thanks for updates.

It seems the issue you refer to is not similar to the original post. As the
issue is relate to WSS fields. In order to make the issue more clear, I
suggest you post a new thread for this issue. This will help us isolate the
issue more clearly.

I think it is your best interest to reinstall outlook on one of the client
computer to see if the issue can be resolve, please follow my steps to
reinstall outlook 2003.

I appreciate your understanding on this issue. I am here waiting for your
