Have you tried www.eventid.net?
Have you excluded the DHCP folder from scanning in Norton?

Is there a way to force the dhcp server to check itself so I can see the
results sooner instaed of later or what ever schedule it checks itself at.
Thanks
Have you tried to stop the DHCP server service, delete the contents of the
DHCP folder, than restart it?

Does this have anything to do with it?
Can you post the complete event with id number etcetera? Anything else in
the logs?

I suspect a harddisk error. Run a thorough checkdisk on that partition.
Or you are av scanning several 'forbidden' folders like Exchange and the
DHCP system folders.

perhaps I could then force a backup and know sooner if my changes are doing
any good.
Thanks again
I have seen that error once on a SBS 2000 that used Arcserve to backup. In
the end I did an offline defrag of the Exchange database and after that
never saw that error again.
Have you tried completely shutting down AV on the server (the file scanning
part)?

Great. I would only use the AV filescanning on certain folders of a server.

I have exactly the same problem on my 2003 std. But I haven't any AV

Can't find the way to solve this out.
Please post the ipconfig/all from the server. What 3rd party programs are
installed on the server? Standard or Premium? How are you connecting to the
internet?

(the other NIC).
As this errors occured every hour, I decided to uninstall DHCP server,
delete the content of Windows/System32/dhcp directory, reinstall DHCP and
configure it.
Since then (2 hours), I don't have any error. But I don't think it's a real
good solution !
DNS on the servernics should **only** point to the serverIP. You are missing
WINS on the internal nic.

If you have a two NIC setup your external NIC should look _only_ to your
internal NIC for DNS.
"François Miermont" <fmiermont[at]netfinances.fr> wrote in message

For my internal NIC ("Carte Ethernet Intranet Intel"), the 192.168.1.41 is
the IP of the secondary DC with an AD DNS.
You've made what I consider a fundamental mistake in your config by giving
your AD a DNS name which is the same as your internet FQDN, this can only be
fixed by 'format C:'. Though the actual SOA for your internet FQDN is
'netfinances.fr. 86400 SOA dns.ovh.net' you are trying to 'fool' your local
network to believe it is SOA.
Unless your DHCP and DNS services are configured correctly machines on your
LAN _may_ not be registering in the AD DNS correctly.
THE IMPORTANT STUFF:
ANDERSON.netfinances.fr is your SBS. Correct?
Is ANDERSON running DNS Sever?
Is ANDERSON supplying DHCP to your LAN clients?
"François Miermont" <fmiermont[at]netfinances.fr> wrote in message
news:3FA57F4D-8FD7-49B4...@microsoft.com...
So :
-I know that my AD DNS name is not a good choice, but I didn't take this
decision :(
-Anderson is a DC with DNS (installed with dcpromo), WINS and DHCP for my
LAN clients. Initially, the KDC error was logged here.
-Cypher is the secondary DC with DNS, updating with the dns of anderson (if
I had an entry on cypher DNS, i can see it on Anderson a few minutes later).
Unless your DHCP and DNS services are configured correctly machines on your
LAN _may_ not be registering in the AD DNS correctly.
-> How can I check this ?

Yes, you can restore to a different location with SBS Backup.

I'm having the exact same problem. Newly installed W2K3 Std. server.
Exchange 2003 Ent., Back Exec 10 and Trend Micro Office Scan installed.
I've tried disabling the OfficeScan but that didn't solve the problem. the
events keep appearing.
So if you solved your problem please let me know :)

Good Luck
Jeff
Thanks for your answer :)
No I haven't solved it yet. I must admit though that it havn't had that high
a priority the last few weeks since itøs not a critical error and I've also
been working on other servers for other customers.
You write the indexind service. I'm not at the server at the moment so is
that the full name "Indexing Service"?
I'm not that into what that service does (well - index of course). Can it be
turned off safely in most cases? This is a std 2003 with exchange enterprise
on top and no sql installed apart from a MSDE installation.
Best Regards
Thomas
I don't know what affect turning off Indexing service will do in your case
but I know that I had to add it through the Add remove windows components it
was not installed on the standard installation. Knowing this it must not be
essential to the operation of the OS. We are running SBS2003 service pack 1
with most of its features except the proxy stuff. I thought I solved this
problem by removing the Veritas BE stuff but it came back. The only reason I
tried the Indexing service was the fact that I did not start getting these
dhcp errors until after I installed that CRM package. Anyway things have been
running fine with out it so we'll see.
