Just uninstalled and reinstalled the companyweb last night and still can't
access it
Patched sharepoint per instructions
Might be a DNS issue
my server has 2 nic cards and everything else seems like it is working
updated SQL to sp3a

Checked DNS And it has a entry
companyweb Alias(CNAME) 2003svr.lloo.local

did nslookup companyweb on server

got 2003svr.lloo.local can't find companyweb: Non-existent domain

please advise this is getting frustrating

Hi,

Please make sure that the following configuration has been done.

Check 1. DNS on server

1. Open the DNS MMC snap-in.
2. Expand Servername\domain.local
3. In the right pane, double-click companyweb Alias.
4. Make sure:
Alias name - companyweb
FQDN - companyweb.domain.local
FQDN for target host - servername.domain.local

Check 2. DNS on client

Please make sure that the clients are configured to use the server's IP
address as the DNS server.

[Example] On Windows XP:
1. Open Network Connections.
2. Right-click the local area connection and click Properties.
3. Double-click TCP/IP in the list.
4. Try assign a static IP address for troubleshoot purpose.
5. Make sure to use the server's IP address in Preferred DNS server.

Check 3. Event Log

Please check whether there're any DNS related errors in Event Viewer. If
there're, what did it say?

You can also try restarting the DNS Service.

1. Open Services.msc snap-in.
2. In the right-pane, right-click DNS Server and click Restart.

[Note] Sometimes, restart the server is also able to solve the problem.
