Hi,
My RWW was working fine untill I had to reinstall (repair) SBS2003. When I
contact the server remotely the following web page is displayed :
You are not authorized to view this page.
HTTP Error 403..6 - Forbidden : IP address of the client has been rejected.
Internet Information Services (IIS)
I was not given the chance to authenticate.
(What service that is not functioning that could cause this)

Thanks for the help

Hello Jack,

Thank you for posting here and also thanks to Claus for input.

From your post, I understand that after reinstalling SBS 2003, RWW cannot
be accessed. Error 403.6 was received. If I have misunderstood your
concern, please feel free to correct me.

Before we go to any future, please let me know the following info, so I can
get a precise understanding on this issue:

1. Does this issue occur on the internal clients or external clients?
2. If you logon SBS Server and try to access RWW, can you reproduce this
issue.
3. Do you have ISA Server installed? If yes, please let me the version.

This issue can be caused by incorrect IP restriction settings. Let's try
following steps to see if it works:

1. Open Server Management and expand to Internet Information Services node.
2. Open the Default Web Site's properties
3. Click the Directory Security tab.
4. Click the Edit button next to the IP Address and Domain Name
Restrictions heading.
5. Click to choose Granted Access and remove all the entries.
6. Click OK.

Please check if the issue persists. If the issue persists, try following
steps:

==========================
1. Check Default Web Site setting under IIS

a. Open Server Management console, go to Advanced Management\Internet
Information Services.
b. Under Website, right click Default Website, select Properties.
c. In Virtual Directory tab, make sure it is using DefaultAppPool, go
to Directory Security tab, click Edit button, make sure that Anonymous and
Integrated access is enabled, make use any IP address is allow to access.

2. Check Virtual Server Remote setting
a Open Server Management console, go to Advanced
Management\Internet Information Services.
b Under Web Sites\Default Web Sites\Remote, right click the Remote
directory, select Properties.
c In Virtual Directory tab, make sure it is using DefaultAppPool,
go to Directory Security tab, click Edit button, make sure that Anonymous
and Integrated access is enabled. Check Directory Security, make use any IP
address is allow to access.

3. Check ISAPI Filter of Default Web Site setting.
a Open Server Management console, go to Advanced
Management\Internet Information Services.
b Under Website, right click Default Website, select Properties.
c In Virtual Directory tab, click ISAPI Filter, check if sbssft.dll
exist.

If sbssft.dll doesn't exist, you need to add it. You can found it under
%systemdrive%\inetpub\sbsflt\sbsflt.dll.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. However, if the issue
persists, please help me gather following information:

1. Please send me the screen shot of the error message as an email
attachment.

To do this, please follow the steps below:

a) When the screen appears, press PrScrn (this key is located to the right
of the F12 key on the keyboard)
b) Create a new Word document and open it.
c) Press Ctrl + V to paste the screen shot into the document.
d) Send this document as the mail's attachment to v-mz...@microsoft.com

2. Please help me gather IIS log and Metabase to me for further analysis,
send to me: v-mz...@microsoft.com with the subject in the newsgroup:

1). On the Server, install .NET Framework Version 1.1:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-
8157-034d1e7cf3a3&DisplayLang=en
2). Install MBExplorer by installing IIS 6 Resource Kit Tools:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en
3). Once it is installed, access it from Start, Programs, IIS Resources,
Metabase Explorer.
4). In the left pane, right click ''LM'' (under your server computer name)
to choose ''Export to file'', and then save it as IIS.mbk.
5). Compress this mbk file and send it to me for analysis. Please let me
know the password if you set on this iis mbk file.

Please collect the IIS log on SBS Server so that I can perform further
research:

1). On the Serves, open IIS MMC, right click Default Web Site and then
click Properties.
2). Click Website tab and then check Enable logging.
3). Stop the Default Website and RENAME the existing IIS log files under
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1.
4). Restart the Default Website and reproduce the problem, which will
generate new IIS log file with the exact error.
5). Wait for a while so that IIS Log can be synced. And then go to the
following folder on Exchange Server: C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1.
6). Send me the log files to my working email address
v-mz...@microsoft.com. And please let me know the alias of the user who
encountered the issue.

Hope this helps, please let me the results at your earliest convenience. I
look forward to your update.

Best regards,

Manfred Zhuang(MSFT)

The second part of the solution fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.
I have connection to the server via the internet. The way I access the
server remotely has changed a little (a cosmetic change). How exactly does a
connection get made on the server ? I will appreciate further information.

Thanks again for your assistance.
