I'm running SBS 2003 Premium on my server. I have a copy of EBS 2008
that I'd like to upgrade to. When I run the preparation tool, it tells
me that my Exchange isn't 2003 SP2 or later. When I try to install the
SP2 update, I get:> The component "Micsoft Exchange Messaging and Colaboration Services"
> cannot be assigned the action "Update" because:

do I uninstall it?

TIA

Migrate to, I assume. You will need another server to do this.

Look in add/remove programs. If it isn't visible, you may need to
download 1.1 and reinstall it, then uninstall it.

From the sounds of it your server is very out of date with patches - I
wouuld not proceed with any sort of migration until Id' gotten that
cleaned up.

Yes. Migrate. It's all moving to VMs, so I can double up with some
other services.

No. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Exchange several times through
the SBS interface. I had to set up a second Exchange server in the
Domain before SBS would let me do the uninstall.

There was an issue with MAPI32.dll in the Exchange System Manager, but
I renamed the old one after an uninstall, and the install put a good one
in.

The patches are maintained by WSUS, and are mostly up to date right now
(all except the Exchange SP2 patch). As part of the effort to locate
the Intelligent Message Filter patch, I backed out the patches from the
past two years. I've since allowed WSUS to install ~70 patches (fewer
than I uninstalled, but some of those had been superceeded).

Hello,

Thanks for your post and Lanwench's input.

This is a known issue when Exchange 2003 SP2 initially released. Please try Lanwench's suggestion to check and remove IMF V1 in Add/remove Programs if it is there first,
then reinstall Exchange 2003 SP2 again.

If the issue persists, try KB935916:
You cannot install Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Small Business Server 2003-based computer that has the Exchange Server Intelligent Message Filter v2
installed
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=935916

Hope this helps.

be cleaned up.

Thank you.
