I have a situation that is forcing me to stop using Folder Redirection
on the remote site due to poor performance, mostly slowness. I, on the
other hand have set up a laptop to use offline files on the same domain.
At this point it seems to me that offline files will be the best option
here. The domain consist of an SBS2008 Premium with a remote Standard
Server domain controller. The site to site is using a Sonicwall
appliance. I love using FR, but cannot sacrifice performance and will
hate to think that it was only meant to be used for authentication
purposes. Any ideas? Thank you for your input.

In the Folder Redirection GPO, it should be set to using Offline Files,
otherwise I'm kind of surprised you are finding it not enabled. Check the
GPO settings. For more info on Folder Redirection (generic info, not SBS
specific), please read my blog on it in the following link. I hooe you find
it useful.

You're redirecting the folders for the remote users to the main SBS, right?
What I was suggesting was to redirect the folders for the remote users to
the server at their location. I'm thinking that the slowness is caused by
transferring data over the VPN or whatever, and that would be eliminated if
you kept everything on their local network. If you're interested in doing
that and have questions, please post back.
