Missing SYSVOL and NETLOGON

Setting up a new server windows 2003 R2 wanting to remove old DC from crappy hardware.

 

Running DCPROMO with no errors and getting ready for transferring the FSMO roles when I notice that there is no SYSVOL or NETLOGON share on the server.

 

After checking dcdiag on both servers problem seems to be on old server, but my google search gives me just more questions but few answares.

 

Any suggestions?

 

Running dcdiag on oldDC gives me these errors:

      Starting test: kccevent
         An Warning Event occured.  EventID: 0x80000785
            Event String: The attempt to establish a replication link for

 

         ......................... oldDC failed test kccevent
      Starting test: systemlog
         An Error Event occured.  EventID: 0xC25A001D
            (Event String could not be retrieved)
         ......................... oldDC failed test systemlog

 

Running dcdiag on newDC gives me these errors:

         Unable to connect to the NETLOGON share! (\\newDC\netlogon)

         Warning: DsGetDcName returned information for \\oldDC.domain.local, when we were trying to reach newDC.

When trying to run DCPROMO on the newDC to remove it I get this error:

 

The operation failed because: Active Directory could not transfer the remaining data in directory partition CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ptc,DC=local to domain controller oldDC.domain.local.  "Access is denied."

 

Using the built in admin account with the correct password.

Terry,

Please post the following to be able to better evaluate what's going
on.

1. Unedited ipconfig /all from both the DC and the machine you're
trying to promote.
2. All event log errors. Post the eventID# and Source names, please.

That should give us a good start to evaluate and diagnose it.
