I have XP PRO machines on a Windows 2003 Server network in a domain.

Some computers when I drill in through Windows Explorer\My Network
Places\Microsoft Windows Network\Domain\Computer
I can see "Printer and Faxes" and "Scheduled Tasks", on other computers I
can't see anything.
I can't map to the hidden drives either if I can't see these shared
resources.

What should I be looking for to see how these computers are setup
differently?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Kelvin

Each PC might have their firewall setting to "block" "File / Printer
sharing."

Hello Kelvin,

Is NetBios over TCP/IP enabled on the NIC properties?

If different subnets are in use you need a WINS server for network browsing.

Also make sure to use only Domain DNS servers on the NIC and not any external
one.

Best regards

"My Network Places" is a NetBIOS application, it relies on NetBIOS for
the browse list, make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled.

Other than that make sure that the firewall is not blocking NetBios
traffic. Also verify that the machines are all in the same subnet.

If you can ping you can map with the NET USE command and UNC paths.

I checked the other suggesting and all seemed well.
I'll check the account and see what its status is...

Thanks
