Hi James,

What error are you receiving? Are you installing with administrator
credentials?

And what fax software are you trying to install?

Yes i'm installing with Admin Rights.

i'm tying to install

Fax machine http://www.nicocuppen.com/product.php?prodinfoID=3&prodID=2
and
Snappy Fax 2000 http://www.snappysoftware.com/snappyfax/features.htm

With Fax machine ive got no error message, but printer driver is not
installed
With Snappy Fax he told me "Add Printer Failed - Reason: The printer driver
is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0
drivers"
or "Cannot install because the printer driver directory cannot be found.
MAke sure that you have the printer spooler service installed and running on
your system."

but i have go into the "group policy object edito" but i dont find this
setting
and i have cheked services, and "Print Spooler" is active !!

its probably a kernel mode driver. you need to enable that.
start - run - mmc
file - add - add - group policy object editor - finish

ok all of that..

computer config - admin temp - printers

"dissallow installation of printers using kernel-mode drivers"
disable that...

then give it a try..

Be carefull with kernel mode printer drivers...
Worst case scenario: BSOD... maybe only visible in extreme stress
situations...
Suggestion: do some stress-testing in the lab using the verifier.exe tool
