Hello

I am considering upgrading to Windows 2003 on new hardware
and want to know the best way of migrating the user &
computer accounts to the new system. The problem is that
the domain name has to be the same due to the new system
will be replacing the current.

Is there any way i can achieve my goals, or do i have to
install the new as a different domain name and rename the
forest when done.

Cheers

Hi,
As far as I understand what you want to do is to add new hardware with w3k
operating system. If that is the case you can just add the new servers as
domain controllers to the network and then move the FSMO roles from the old
servers to the new ones and the decomission the old domain controllers.

Thanks for getting back to me on my message, but i am
wanting a clean Active Directory Domain with only the
user/computer accounts migrated over, as there is some
rubbish in the AD that does not need to be brought across.

Cheers
