What in the world could have caused that? Do I have two defective UPS's?

Here are a few possible reasons:
- Human interference
- Defective UPSs. When did you last test them? I do a full endurance test
twice a year so that I can tell my clients with confidence that they have a
UPS that works.
- An Windows Automatic Update that went wrong.
- An automatic virus scanner update that went wrong.
- Virus/malware infection with a time bomb.
- Hacker attack.
- Sheer coincidence.

I have had problems with our ML350 G5 for the past few months too. Kept
rebooting whenever a backup was run. I found a lot of problems on the net of a
similar type most saying to upgrade to the latest Rom Pack (8.30) and Bios
(8.6). I did that but also found that a cooling fan had failed (it was still
running but the diags reported "failed redundancy"). The fan was replaced two
days ago and it has not failed this weekend. So at lease upgrade the firmware
and the rompack then run the diags and look at the event logs for issues.
