2003 or 2008?

In either case, you have the option of doing lots of research and reading
everything you can find online or attending a class.

You know, the best way to learn is with hands on experience. With that said,
do you have the hardware to work with? If you don't you can still get some
hands on experience using a virtual environment, MS Virtual Server 2005 R2
SP1 makes it pretty easy to setup virtual clusters. There are some excellant
white papers, or HowTo articles up on Technet as well that will take you a
long way down the path of learning to cluster. If you have problems finding
them let me know.

Hardware Requirements usually consist of a minimum of 2 servers and some
sort of shared storage such as a SAN or NAS, connected either directly or
via iSCSI. The Shared Storage is not local to either server. With Virtual
Server you can do it all on one server, or laptop assuming it has some power
behind it. of course with Virtual Server you'll miss some of the hands on
regarding working with a SAN, LUNs, HBAs, etc, but you can still learn a lot
from it.

only one more thing, the clustering trainings costs a lot of money. if u know
any links or forums which helps or supports freely, it would be a grt help.
having a virtual machimes in a low-end desktops with 2-3 OS would be huge
expense for me and difficult to wrk as i'm not wrkin in any company tht i cn
make it possible to do R&D. usually i have a group to learn & explore and
bring it live. MS provides now a days VDisk on technet to do R&D thats grt
too but limited to some extent. Hope you understood my concern and if
possible please provide me with the links(free video trainings with hands on)
or any more guidance.
Thnks Once Agn.

Not really. It is a drop in the bucket compared to the hardware and
software.

If a company has decided that high availability is needed for certain
applications, it makes sense that the company would want to make sure the
administrators can manage it properly.

Formal training is expensive, but Microsoft provides so much information
self study is cheap. Virtual server is a free download from Microsoft, and
you can download trail versions of the OS and even Virtual Machines with the
OS already installed for testing purposes also for free.

Having said that, setting up a virtual lab and working with it is very cost
effective.

The best thing to do is go to Microsoft.com and then follow the link to the
download page. From the download page, do a searcg for the word "cluster"
and start downloading the white papers and howto papers the search will
produce.

I have been in the training field long enough to know that this is very
seldom true. Formal training is focused and allows for direct questions to
be answered in seconds. Seld study is fine, if you have all of the proper
documentation right in front of you and it is all in the proper order.
However, that almost never happens.

In any case, good luck.

compared to what ?

you are already buying: server hardware, storage hardware, enterprise
licensing OS, enterprise licensing App (if applicable).... training is
actually the cheapest of all of those.

I agree with Russ !
