Hi,

Im having a two node active/active cluster runs on win2k3 R2 Ent edition. Im
currently having trouble in creating a cluster resources for a generic
service. Its an application cluster installed with IBM MQ series and apache.

Since its an active/active cluster, i managed to create two resources on
each node for a generic application service but when i tried to create a
third one, its not allowing me to do so, pops-up an error saying

"Object already exists. Error 5010"

Did tried creating the third resource on both the nodes, still the same error.

Not sure what is preventing me here in creating the third generic service
resource.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

You can't have more than one 'Generic Service' resource pointing to the same
service. This is per cluster.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Just to clarify you that im not pointing the
generic service resource to the same service here. There are 3 different
services for which im trying to create a generic service resource. Im able to
create the resource for two of them, when i try to create the resource for
the third service, it throwed me that error.

Ok

so you have the following, in services control panel:

1) A service called "Service1" and is "executable1.exe"
2) A service called "Service2" and is "executable2.exe"
3) A service called "Service3" and is "executable3.exe"
4) the above 3 services are already installed on node1 and node2
5) the above 3 services are set to "manual startup" in services control
panel

You create a "Generic Service" resource in cluster admin for Service1, and
all is well

You create a "Generic Service" resource in cluster admin for Service2, and
all is well

You create a "Generic Service" resource in cluster admin for Service3, and
it produces an error "Object exists"

Is the above the correct explanation ?
Please confirm, if not, please describe *exactly* what your setup is.

Let us know,
Rgds,
Edwin.
