Is there any recommendation on what should be the value for Object deleted lifetime ( ms-DS-objectDeletedLifetime). What are the pros and cons of having a small/higher number.

Hello Gaji,

Check the following article about the relationship from deleted object lifetime
and the recycled object lifetime and the tombstone lifetime.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd379542(WS.10).aspx

Basically i wouldn't change the default values if AD recycle bin is enabled,
as it isn't recommended from Microsoft:
"Although it is possible for you to modify the values of the deleted object
lifetime (which is stored in the msDS-deletedObjectLifetime attribute) and
the recycled object lifetime (which is stored in the tombstoneLifetime attribute),
we do not recommend this because it can cause problems in your environment."

Best regards

No general recommendation out there. You probably want to change it to
something that fits your overall recovery strategy. If you don't have a
personal preference, leave the default value.

Cheers,
