During DVD playback using "Play DVD" in MCE 2005, is there a way for the top
bar and the "remote control" floating at the bottom to auto-hide when they
aren't needed?

(For example, when using Windows Media Player, all WMP bars auto-hide.)

TIA for any advice.

Also experiencing this and seeking a resolution. I did find that if I
"restore" the MCE 2005 application so that it is NOT maximized to full
screen, the title bar and remote controls will auto-hide. Its only when I
maximize the MCE 2005 app (and of course that would be preferred) that I
experience the the controls and title bar not hiding. I've been told that
MCE 2005 is using either Windows Media Player or PowerDVD in the background
on my installation to provide the playback functionality. If I use either of
these applications outside of MCE, both play full screen and auto-hide their
controls correctly. Was told that uninstalling WMP and resinstalling might
correct the problem, but I haven't had the chance to try yet.

Any success on your end?

Reinstalled MCE 2005 with all OS and MCE updates...and auto-hide now works
fine full screen. Using USB wireless mouse/keyboard from Gyration ( GP2100 ).

Got it!!!!!:w00t:

If you happen to be running MCE 2005 and also an application called "Music
Match", I know the answer to this problem (thanks to a knowledgable tech at
Dell ... Thank you Mike). There's an incompatibilty b/w MCE and Music Match
that causes the title bar and a/v controls to remain visible during full
screen playback via MCE.

The fix is to remove "mimboot.exe" from your startup config be performing
the following:

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type "msconfig" and hit enter.
4. Click the Startup tab and search for "mimboot" in the list of apps.
5. Uncheck the box to disable mimboot during startup.

Reboot your machine and all should be well.
