No suggestions as you failed to quote the OP that described the problem.

How to install a working web browser then reinstall Internet Explorer.

** Windows XP Home **

Hello People,

I had the same problem only I did not have Mozilla Fire Fox. This is
how I fixed the problem, assuming that you're using internet explorer
and can load to the internet.

1) *Go to Control Panel, Internet Options, General (Tab), then set the
homepage to www.google.com . Click apply and then OK. Close out of
control panel and double click the Internet Explorer icon. You should be
on the Google homepage.

2) **Click on the search bar on the Google homepage and type," 'Install
Mozilla Firefox' (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ie.html) (or
click on link). When Google gives you the vast websites to install it
from, click on the Mozilla option. Now you'll see the option to download
Fire Fox for free....
If you click on the Free download icon, it will give you the error,
The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation
context"; ***however, you can Right Click and Save Target As, and save
the download to file on your computer. From the drop-down-box, I chose
to Save To Desktop

3) Once you've saved this download, go to the folder were you stored it
from the Save As menu. ****Double click the Fire Fox icon and follow the
installation instructions(You now have a workable Web Browser!!).

TIME TO FIX Internet Explorer!!!!!

1) *****Open Mozilla Fire Fox by double clicking the icon. Once loaded
to the internet, type," 'How to Reinstall Internet Explorer 7'
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378)" (or click on link). In this
step of the phase, (/////I'm assuming that reinstalling the previous
version of IE will help to fix this bug. So if I'm correct, as I it
fixed my Internet Explorer..., if you have IE 8 then reinstall IE 7, if
running IE 7 then reinstall IE 6, and so on. This is assuming that this
method is a Binary/ Mathematical truth. So give it a shot!\\\\\)
******Chose the Microsoft link to reinstall then it should give you
step by step instructions on reinstallation of IE.

3) The Mozilla Fire Fox has its own download manager but do not fear.
By default every download is saved in My Documents/ Downloads. In that
file you'll find your IE Explorer. *******Double click to run the
program. Follow all the installation Wizard's directions, then restart
the computer.

4) Don't get uptight if it doesn't work at 1st!! ******** You need to
use the Microsoft Windows update and/or upgrade to IE 8! After this,
your Internet Explorer should work just fine!!

Ps Thanks for your posts that helped me to restore my IE, couldn't have
done it without you! Merry X Mass

All very interesting and helpful, but since you clipped the rest of the
thread, it's hard to know exactly what this solution is fixing.

It also would probably be better posted in an Internet Explorer forum rather
than this one, which specializes in problems and issues with Media Center.

Thanks Jamie for your constructive critisism and I will follow your
advice.
This was my orignial reaction to David B.'s negative and unhelpful
comment.

"OPPS!

Sorry if the content is not exact to the category. When I encountered
this problem, as described in the blog, the topic was the number 1 or 2
hit in Google for its solution. The original posting was over a year old
and unless I'm breaking the rules that this web site has laid forth that
I'm not aware of, it's not a huge concern to me.

If indeed, I'm guilty of such misrepresentation..., please feel free to
inform me of the violation that I've incurred and I will correct it.
THANKS"

If you stopped posting from the leaching forum that is techarena and
accessed the groups properly you wouldn't have that problem.

Some people are either in control or out of control but healthy people
don't need either.

Hi all, just had the same problem. Have found a solution that will work
on any system. Using a usb stick and another computer, find your IE
version, click download, save to your USB, then simply pop the usb stick
into your affected computer locate that IE download folder, double click
and follow all instructions. Reboot and you may need to finish set-up.
Done and you can now search any site and open any links and pages.

I had the same problem after my system downloaded and installed IE8. I
restarted the computer and it didn't do it again. Just a thought.
