Will I still be able to view shows recorded from HBO and Showtime when I
upgrade from VMC to 7MC?

Is there KB article on the subject?

My MC2002 downloaded an update a few years ago that broke all my recorded
shows. I had to do a roll-back and prevent updates. I switched to a Vista
box this summer and I was thinking of doing the upgrade to 7MC. Any advice
would be appreciated.

Regards,
Todd

Expect to lose the shows.
Any OS or Hardware changes will likely break the DRM.

The only possible way would be to record them on a ordinary VCR via the
composite Video, Stereo Audio output.

What about windows updates? Do they still break the DRM?

The Microsoft Windows Updates are OK, Updates do not harm Media Center,
Unless it is one of the few screwed up updates.

Windows Updates are recommended. They fix security problems.

It seems to me that it should be just as easy to write an app that outputs
the video to a window and then captures that same window back into a video
file only without the DRM.

Are ther any programmers out there?

Search on the web for Screen capture aplications. There are a few out
there that allow you to capture a movie playing on the monitor.
