Got message "do you want to compact files". I hit yes, it started, then froze. File folder's are still intact, but most emails are no longer saved. Any idea how to retrieve?

Periodic failure of OE6 to function

A recurring problem I'm having is the failutre of OE6 to open and display e-mail messages online. I'm using and HP MCE 2005 (with Rollup 2), IE7, a wireless router and Cable modem service and ATT Yahoo (prodigy) ISP. I'm trying to make an e-mail address plain text. Underline is NOT checked. I have selected the text, checked and unchecked it a dozen times. I've clicked on Format>Plain Text and back to Rich Text.
