On the surface it would appear to be a Yahoo issue. Some people were
trying to make sense of it at:
http://www.godiscussions.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2838&page=2
Someone reported success in receiving an attachment after forwarding the
message to another account.
A good first step would be to get one of these message files to Michael
Santovec so he can examine the headers.

Thanks for your input, I will keep this in mind, in the mean time do you
have any help toward the question I am asking instead of the way I asked it?

It's probably some combination of Yahoo specific headers with the user's
ISP and/or user installed anti-virus or anti-spam software.

I've checked virus scans, uninstalled/reinstalled OE, and even system
restored in case of system changes from another user on my computer. Nothing
has changed that I'm aware of.
I did find potential spyware that caused something but it has been removed
so I don't think it is the problem now.
I have gone further and used Netscape and yahoo attachments come through
there no problem whatsoever so it is definitely a OE problem now. It's not
yahoo or bellsouth. I've been testing this all day long as I have a yahoo
account myself and sending back and forth and trying to receive something
from the yahoo account and can't.
I've looked everywhere and can't find anything about this issue. Hope
someone find something because I can't.
Thanks for your reply. I too have turned off ALL anti-virus,
anti-spyware, spam blockers
so I am stumped. I have sent myself the same test pics and docs from
Hotmail, from
Bellsouth and from Gmail and all of these do just fine. Yahoo is the only
hang-up.
Something that either Microsoft did as an update pretty much has to be the
hang.
Reason being is that as I have stated before, When I check the Bellsouth
Webmail web page
all attachments are there from everyone including Yahoo. And again if the
attachment had
been blocked by any anti virus, firewall, spamfilter etc, it would not show
up in the properties
as it does in OE6.
And lastly, I am NOT the only one having this problem, but the problem is
specific to those of
us using OE6 and setup with Bellsouth.net.
We are depending on your great knowledge of these things to please work on
this.
Thanks Eric

All the reports point to something happening as the messages is
downloaded from Bell South. Since the message is the right size after
download, it must be something getting screwed up in the message
headers.
If would like, you may send me one of the problem messages and I'll take
a look at it. It's best if you zip the message so that I get an exact
copy of it. To do that, do a File, Save As to an EML file of a problem
message. Then Right click the saved EML file and select Send To,
Compressed (zipped) folder. Then e-mail me the resulting ZIP file.
Alternately, you can do a Message, Forward As Attachment of a problem
message. This is not as good as the zip file since the headers can be
modified in transit which may obscure the problem. A simple Forward is
worthless since it does not include the headers.

I really appreciate you input on this issue. If you need me to resend,
please let me
know.
Dawn
What did you use for a subject? Maybe it got filtered out as spam. Try
sending again and I'll keep a look out for it. Be sure to use a
descriptive subject such as "Outlook Express Bellsouth problem". Not
something such as "here's your file" as so many spam/viruses use.
I did receive a sample message from someone else. Unfortunately he's
using Office Outlook which saves to MSG format rather than EML. The MSG
format scrambles the original message source into something that Outlook
likes, losing details necessary to identity the problem. The EML file
is an exact copy of the message as it downloaded in OE. From that, it's
possible to determine what's screwy.
