OE is suddenly no longer able to download my subscribed newsgroup messages!
HELP... this is the note I get:

420 XOVER 136603902 - 136604100 alt.binaries.fonts
Configuration:
Account: news.bubbanews.com
Server: news.bubbanews.com
User name: drea77
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Error Number: 420
Code: 800cccac

Up until a week or 2 ago I had no problems, then I could not access the
groups at all... I would get "Connected" "Authorizing", then numbers would
appear in brackets and then just disappear... and now I get the above message
after 1 message of 200 gets downloaded...
Any ideas what has happened? I have tried synchronizing - same "error".....
I do not re-call chaning any settings... any clues??
Thanks
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Beyond saying there's a problem with headers I can't be of much help.

The Errors Without Cause or Solution Specified

0x800CCCAC NNTP_HEADERS_FAILED Unable to display headers.
420 No article(s) selected

Can you successfully connect to this newsgroup using NNTP and the Microsoft
server?

Hi Tim
Yes, I access this newsgroup via IE... not OE... I can get to one of my
other much used newsgroups via IE too... but find using OE much easier so
would have liked to get the problem sorted...
ho-hum
:)

Close Internet Explorer, then click on the link Tim indicated below in his
reply (or copy/paste the link into the Start/Run line). It should open
directly in Outlook Express. If it does not, post back with any error
message you may be getting. Do you also have Outlook (component of MS
Office) installed on this computer?

Thank You!!!
That worked for this and the other miscrosoft newsgroup I was accessing!!
Now if I could access alt.binaries.fonts too I'd be extremely happy!! :)
Is there a link for that too? Like the one you guys gave me?

Thanks again!
Andrea

That would depend on the news server you use. A shortcut can be created to
a news group by using the info in this link:
