Sounds like you or some other user created a default start page for Outlook
Express to use when opening and it's now having difficulty finding that
page. Check the setting under this key in the registry:

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\[GUID for specific
identity]\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0]

Value Name: FrontPagePath
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: URL or Filename

Windows Registry Guide - Change the Start Page for Outlook Express (All
Versions):
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/874/

If no help, post back, since it could also be a sign of a corrupted
installed of SP2, particularly if you allowed an antivirus program to remain
running in the background while doing the upgrade to SP2.

Thanks a lot for your hint. I had FrontPage before with Office 2000 but not
with my new Office 2003 HUP Version.
After I located the old Welcome.htm on C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 and
copied it into the folder C:\Program Files\Outlook Express and changed the
FrontPagePath to
res://C:\Program%20Files\Outlook%20Express\msoeres.dll/welcome.htm it
worked fine.

Kind regards paul e. gruendler
