i cannot print in outlook express or internet explorer
6.0. In both programs the print dialog does not appear
and using the print icon on the toolbar doesnt work
either. I remember a friend telling me once they had the
same problem and it was a visual basic error but i just
cannot seem to find the answer on the net. Can anybody
help me?

Check in at Windows Update and install Q824145/Nov-03 Cumulative Patch for
IE.

If no joy afterwards, re-register all DLLs listed in this KB article:

yep, it works in everything but those 2 programs. I have
reinstalled the printer drivers a few times and also
internet explorer and outlook.

Solution that worked.

I had a problem not being able to print from either I.E. or Outlook Express,
and if I tried to use Page Setup, I.E. would hang.

The version info in the Help/About was completely gone. I got paid help from
Microsoft,
and the following steps fixed the problem.

First, using Internet Options, delete all cookies, temp files and objects.
This might
fix it for some people.

In my case, I also had to use regsvr32 from the start/run command to
re-register vbscript.dll and jscript.dll.

At the Start/Run applet execute these commands
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

Then, thank god, everything worked. A frustrated I.E. 6 users.

Reinstalling 5.6 Scripting Engine might have the same affect:
