I have seen several questions/answers about alphabetizing web sites within
Folders under Favorites (ie the Sort By Name choice). I would like to
organize the Folders themselves. But I cannot seem to do this. Am I missing
something, or is it not possible? Thank you in advance for any help.

You sort them in a similar way to the favorites.

Use the menu option Favorites and when a favorite folder flies out,
rightclick on it and select "Sort by name"
Don't use the Favorites panel. It must be the menu option or you may
also do it from Start-Favorites

Open Favorites from the menu item, not the toolbar icon. Then right click
any of them and choose Sort by Name.

If you want them to automatically alpha-sort even as new entries are added,
you need a registry edit. Navigate to:

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Menu
Order\Favorites

and delete the value named 'Order'. Also delete this value for any
subfolders. Then, with the favorite key highlited, click on Edit >
Permissions and deny 'Full Access' to Administrators, yourself, etc. This
will prevent the key from being automatically recreated.
