cache not retaining temporary internet files

For the past few weeks, I have noticed that the cache folder of my browser
(IE6) is no longer retaining any of the temporary internet files. Actually,
I'm not sure if its a matter of the files not being retained, or perhaps
being somehow automatically deleted? They are all gone every morning when I
check. Then I have to wait for all the pages to completely reload again
before they can be viewed. The cache file size is set at 1215 MB.
Previously, it would hold about 10,000 files or so before starting to
overwrite them.

I checked under the advanced tab,
but the box is not checked to delete the TIF upon closing the browser. I
have always had selected the option to automatically check for new versions
of web pages from within internet options. I do have several cache cleaner
programs installed, but none of the are set for any type of automatic
operation. I also ran the repair tool from the command prompt, but it made
no difference. The same behavior continues. My OS is Windows 2000. I have
searched the web and MS knowledge base, but was unable to find any
information on this issue. Anyone here that might have an idea as to what
might be causing the TIF to be deleted/not retained like the described
manner?

It's probably corrupt. Close IE and use the Internet Options applet in
Control panel to Delete Files. If that doesn't work see
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

That's way too big. It can actually slow IE down instead of speeding it up.
Set it to 40 or 50 MB.

Thank-you Frank. Your suggestion took care of the problem. All is back to
normal, and I backed the cache size down to 200MB. Thanks again.
