internet Explorer will not launch getting error message

I have a lpatop running XP SP2 with IE6 when I try to launch IE I get the
message Internet Explorer encountered a porblem and needs to close.
when you check the reson it gives me this

Why hasn't WinXP SP3 been installed by now?
What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?
Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
