Not sure if this is a Vista issue or an IE one, so please indulge me. When
clicking on a download link for a program in IE, the usual box comes up
asking if you want to run or save the program. When I click 'save', the
box and the IE7 window instantly closes - when I click 'run', the program
downloads and installs normally.

I've had a nose around in Defender in case this is the source, but can't
find anything relating to it. Might someone have an idea of the cause?

Many thanks in advance.

Ian

Does your User Account have the requisite Permissions to SAVE the file?

Those with IE7-specific questions or comments are asked to post to and seek

I'm the only user and signed on as an administrator, Robear. I'm not sure
how to assign permissions, though - online help is baffling my poor,
addled, 57 year-old brain!

I'm happy to move this discussion to MPIG if it's required.

Many thanks,

Ian
