Sometimes I receive an E-mail that is supposed to include an image but all I
get is the message [unable to display image]. The message file type is .eml
and opens with MSIMN Outlook Express Mail Message. Do I have some settings
wrong or is it a problem with the sender? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Danny Clifft

Sounds like they saved the message with the image as OE's default Save.

In other words, they inserted the picture, saved the message using File |
Save or File | Save As.. then attached that to their message to you.

Noticed this in the headers
X-Mailer: AOL 5.0 for Windows sub 68

Don't know what they're doing with AOL.

EML is the default extension for Outlook Express E-mail. If someone sent you
a message with an EML file as an attachment, and had an image as an
attachment in that message, you may have to open the attached image to view
it that way. Doesn't sound right to me for some reason. I did notice in
your test message no image was included, did you include one?

The message in the attachment is just as I received it. No image. Do you
think it could have something to do with AOL? The person I received it from
is on AOL.

May well be the problem....

The image may have been attempted to attach and somehow, was messed
up/stripped in the send process.

Then, it may have been forwarded to them, the image was lost and the message
indicating the image could not be displayed was still there in the forwarded
message. Lots of possibilites there.

Try going to Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs, and then click IE and add / remove and then choose add a component. When setup starts check the box near the bottom of the list that says include AOL art and see if that makes any difference.

A number of messages come through to those using other email programs than AOL's with eml as the message and attached. This is an AOL peculiarity (one of many).
