The answer to the original question is that Hotmail is so far the only
free e-mail provider that supports HTTPMail. Yahoo will deliver your mail
by POP.
(I think HTTPMail is a good innovation, and it's a shame that Microsoft
won't document it so that other providers could use it too).

That was a very poorly researched article, that didn't make any effort to
understand or explain the source of the problems that some people have
with OE5/Hotmail. And it totally ignored the problem of ISPs that block
HTTPMail traffic entirely with old proxy servers that don't support
WebDAV.
