The number one song on the list, In My Life, originally appeared on
the Beatles' Rubber Soul.
LONDON - A group of 20 legendary songwriters has voted The Beatles' In
My Life, an autobiographical song penned by John Lennon, as the best song
ever written.
The top 10 list was compiled from entries submitted by such pop
luminaries as Brian Wilson, Hal David, Jerry Leiber and Paul McCartney.
The Rolling Stones' (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction came second on the
list. Earlier this year it was named the number one song in VH1's list of
top 100 greatest rock songs ever.
The top ten list was compiled by Britain's Mojo Magazine.
Here are the winning songs, along with the artists who made them
famous:

Now there's one heck of a reason to be glad with your age ;-)) At least we
were there to see it all happen. Still remember their first appearance in
Blokzijl in Holland. I think it was my first major concert I went to
(chaperoned by my oldest sister). All hippies and pop art in those days.
Even remember the shoes I was wearing that day <g>
Unfortunately some years ago I lost my complete Beatles albums collection
and am still in the process of recollecting. So you see they always be #1
with me too!
