I downloaded a file from Maxtor called IDE.EXE, this file has txt files on
harddrive specs. I downloaded it to my desktop and clicked on it to run it.
It put all the txt files on my desktop, which I was not expecting. So I
deleted the IDE.EXE file and txt files. Now at every restart I get copies of
all txt files on the desktop. I delete all files and they keep coming back.
How can I stop this?
Thanks in advanced
Tim

The IDE.exe file that you downloaded was a self extracting zip file.
Clicking it to run it simply tells it to extract its contents, which it
did to the folder it was in at the time, the desktop. If the files keep
reappearing, then ide.exe must still be on the machine somewhere. Use
Find on the start menu to locate it and once found, delete it if you don't
want it. Have the search start at the root of C and make sure you check
the line that tells it to include sub-folders.

You might save yourself a couple of seconds if you first check to see if
it didn't somehow inadvertently end up in the startup folder on the start
menu.
