I am using OE version 6.00.2800.1123, recent problem
developed. I am receiving my email, however, after
reading them, I cannot delete them, move them, save them,
etc. What can be done to correct this?

You likely have a corrupted mail folder. If you are lucky, it is the Deleted Items
folder, and not the folder you are trying to delete the messages from.

For a corrupted Deleted Items folder:
- Close Outlook Express.
- OE4: Locate the files Deleted Items.mbx and Deleted Items.idx in the mail directory and
delete them. You can use Start, Find, Files or Folders, "Deleted Items.??x" to find them.
- OE5+: Locate the file Deleted Items.dbx in the mail directory and delete it. You can
use Start, Find (or Search), Files or Folders, "Deleted Items.dbx" to find it. On Win2000
and XP, you need to use the advanced options to find Hidden or System files.
- Open Outlook Express again. It will create a new empty Deleted Items.

For a corrupted Inbox:
- Close Outlook Express
- Rename the file Inbox.dbx to Inboxold.dbx You can use Start, Find (or Search), Files or
Folders, Inbox.dbx to find it. On Win2000 and XP, you need to use the advanced options to
find Hidden or System files.
- Open Outlook Express again.
- It will create a new empty Inbox.
- The following program may be able to recover some of the messages from the Inboxold.dbx
file.
DBXtract - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx
- You can then open OE and select the Inbox and drag the recovered EML files back into it.
