problem with WMI event log query

Hi,
I am trying to read the event log with WMI. Sometimes when I try to
retrieve the "Message" and the "CategoryString" columns I get an empty
string. However, when I check with the Event Viewer, the data is
there. I have also noticed that the message in the "CategoryString"
is not always exactly the same in the Event Viewer.
If anybody can shed any light on this, it would be most appreciated.
