folks,

Can a POSIX programming standard based software be ported to windows
mobile 6 platform? There'r many Pthread, file OP and socket OP were
written as POSIX rules in this software, but Windows has its own thread
mechanism and winsock to implement similar functionality.

I googled some information, there're some 3rd party libs from
sourceforge. And MS also provided windows service subsystem 4 UNIX, but
it's only for windows xp sp1 and later, not for windows embedded system.
Does MS provide other solution to running POSIX code on windows CE? Or
do you guys know any good 3rd part LIBs available?

many thanks

Wade

How about www.dinkumware.com? It at least has POSIX threads - not sure
about the rest.

it's not that expensive i don't think. will your software be free? if not,
i say purchase the lib. if it is free, some vendors have different
pricing/licensing for freeware, so you might check with dinkumware (or any
other provider you find) to see if they offer anything like that.

That's right, maybe I should contact with the lib vendor; about your
question: I think maybe some of the current software will be free in the
future...

P.S. Does MS provide similar solution?

Nothing from Microsoft for POSIX on WinCE.
