Dial phone numbers from web page.

I would like to dial a phone number from a web page and when connected, get an indication back to my web page about the connection status so that I can take some action like display another page or display a form to accept some data from the caller, carry out the conversation using the headset connected to the PC with volumn controls in the web page etc.
Also answer incoming calls by pressing a button in the web page for establishing connection.
I think all this could be done using TAPI 3.0 interface in VBScript or HTML (<object> tag). Can anyone help?
