Anyone notice that the latest Security Update hangs during the install
phase?

I tried in two computers, in two networks, and had the same result...

I noticed that it takes a while before it finishes the
update. Installation status bar seems to be stuck around
30%, but it did complete the installation after a while.

Not only does it hang, but it has entirely screwed up my 2000 system.
Everytime I boot I now get a Lsass.exe error which forces the system to
reboot.

I'm dead in the water.

Thanks Microsoft!!

Mine hangs too. I've stopped it twice now. It continues to download even
after I close the download dialog and the browser. What's up with that?

Whenever I log in as myself, explorer.exe gets a bad address fault.
Admin can log in without a fault, so its probably related to something
in my startup or desktop. I've backed out, which worked. So if you
can get on at all, you may be able to recover.

I interrupted the installation after it seemingly hung for too many
minutes, then rebooted. After that: BOOT LOOPS -- lsass.exe error with
a 60 second reboot warning over and over.

After a few skipped heartbeats (this *is* the company server), I
booted into safe mode (vanilla, without network) uninstalled the
SP2SRP1 thru Add/Remove and the next boot was alright (after a few
apps reset their own security settings).

CLEARLY microsoft should have a proper warning as to the lengthy
security settings process this thing does. I wonder how many sys
admins blithely let rip on this and lost their breakfast this morning.

I let it run for 4 hours with no luck. After I cancel it
is very difficult to reboot. I have found no solution yet.

I was having the problem of a slow install and it would tell me that the
installer was not responding. To fix this I disabled the Norton auto protect
and shut down my Zone Alarm Firewall both of these programs will protect the
registry from being changed, after doing this the update installed in less
than 2 minutes and have had no problems since.

I almost screw this up also.
MS should tell you that the 1 min download is just for the downloader
analysis. The actual file, tailored to your computer, will be from 10 to 16
megs. which will take much longer.
But since you are not informed, is easy to assume that the installation is
stall. Task manager save me from interfering with the installation.
Cheers
