connected but cant access anything

I have set up a vpn. The vpn server is windows 2000. It
sits behind a linksys router. It is not a domain
controller but is on the same network as one. There is no
DNS or WINS. I can connect from the internet at home. It
logs me and gives me an IP address. Thats as far as I
get. If I go to network places and click on the domain
name it gives me this message "The list of servers for
this workgroup is currently unavailable". I can type in
net view at a prompt and I get the same message. I also
cannot ping any IP addresses except for the one its gives
me. What could be wrong? Thanks..

ipconfig /all here.

over a VPN connection (it doesn't use LAN broadcasts). Have you tried net
view \\IPnumber, where IPnumber is the LAN IP of a LAN server?
The only alternative is to set up hosts or lmhosts files on your client
machine, with entries for each LAN machine you want to "see" from the remote
client, so that the client can resolve names to IP addresses. You probably
will still not be able to browse the LAN using network places without WINS.

a static ip that is not assigned to any computer and dns. can you ping the

message when trying to map a drive, etc... "There are
