My computer has dual boot with w2k on 1 partition and w98 on another. A few
days ago my W2k install lost the ability to connect to the internet and also
see the other computer on the network. Its connection is through a router
(Netgear) and dns/gateway/ and ip is all correct. W2k can ping the router
and the other computer and the browser can open the router setup/status
page. The router can also ping and do dns lookup on other sites. But when
trying to access internet sites or check email it can't. There are no
firewalls/virus programs running.

The Win98 partition on this computer can access the internet and see other
computers as well as check email. The other computer running w98 also can
access sites and pages fine.

I've tried to resetup the network along with swapping out routers but am
pretty lost at this point.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately w2k is beginning to behave like some
previous versions that begin to get tipsy with age. When I try to access the
network properties I get a message that another network property sheet is
already open and I can't change anything - there is nothing open at least
obviously unless its buried in the services.

Is there an ini file or maybe somewhere in the registry I can make the
change - I've tried swapping out the net card, uninstalling and everything
else but it won't let me change the network settings.

Thanks for any input.
