File Sharing is enabled on all clients and the clients are not using
firewalls as they are behind a firewall on the network (as is the server).
Until this problem, the server has been able to access all the clents for
several years.

No internal firewalls are active. What would be the best way to test using
the client's IP address?
Thanks, Ron
"Ron" <R...@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B709344A-FB5E-42D9...@microsoft.com...
It connects using the IP address and not with \\clientname. In looking at
the site in your link, the server has the System Error 53. Of the four steps
to correct the problem:
1 - I am uncertain as to what would be incorrect in the DNS settings. What
would be the best way to go about checking that?
2 - Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled.
3 - WINS is active.
4 - LMHOSTS Lookup is enabled.
Thanks, Ron
