Is it possible to recover offline files? I had to remove a
computer from the domain and there were offline files
associated with a domain users account on the desktop. the
files can be "seen" from the offline files shortcut but
they cannot be opened. I know the offline file links
reside in the WINNT\CSC folder but they are in a serial
number type of format.

Does anyone know how to receover these files?!?!

Dear Blaine,

Thank you for your posting.

According to your post, you wonder how to recover offline files.

If I have misunderstood your concern please don't hesitate to let me know.

1. The Offline Files (CSC or Client Side Caching) cache and database folder
stores all the contents of Offline files. You may firstly access Folder
Options => View, check the "Show hidden files and folders" option.

After that, access C:\WinNT\CSC folder, you will find sub folders labeld
d1,d2,d3,.. etc. Locate the files by their corresponding files data size,
time stamp and types. You may copy them to a temporary location, and then
rename the file to its correct name and extension, so that they can be
opened as normal.

2. Restoring the Offline Files cache to its prior contents, and especially
replacing it with that from another system can result in Offline File usage
anomalies and should this be encountered, the cache should be completely
reset and rebuilt manually using the following article:

Hope it help!

Sincerely,
