While running Windows XP's CMD.EXE on an NT4 server I discovered that it's
command line length is four times that of CMD.EXE from Windows NT and Windows
2000; its limitation is exactly 8kb (8192) including the CR/LF. This may be
good news for those of you who were having trouble with the 2k limit. Windows
XP's CMD.EXE functions very nicely on Windows NT4 and I believe it runs just
as well on Windows 2000.

After thinking about this more I suspect that the unusable two bytes may be
for a wide-character NULL (sizeof(WCHAR)) rather than for a CR/LF.
^ It is a real PITA that microSoft does not believe it necessary to

I only know of PITA as a type of bread but I'm sure I would agree with you if
I understood what you meant.
