Checkout not visible in VC++

I have a Win 2K machine that will not display the red check marks in the
VC++ file view when files are checked out. It seems Visual Studio is
unaware of the SourceSafe connection. Is there a procedure to
sycnhronize the development environment to VSS, or some file I need to
alter or something?

Try running ssint.exe in the VSS\win32 directory. Then at the open
project/workspace dialog, you should see a button to open from source
control. Use that to browse to the appropriate project and you should
be integrated just fine.
