Connect Shapes with Connection Points

Hallo,
i want to connect two shapes with self placed Connection points.
It works in the case that the moved to the other grouped shape have less
then 24 lines. I this case connet the Connection point to the other shape
perfect.
But, if I have a Shape with more than 24 lines inside....it dosen´t work in
my VISIO2003.
An other different of the shape with more than 24 lines is the way to move.
When I hold the mouseclick with left button, i can´t move the Shape directly,
just a kind of shadow of the shape.

the same function, with the same Shape works in Visio2000!!!!

Is it possible that i can solve this problem in Visio2003????

I think I have the same problem. I have been modifing shapes by adding a
connection point to drop the shape on a line. I have done this many times and
it works perfectly. I have only used Visio 2003.

Three of my shapes will not work. When I drag the shape across the line, the
shape connection point does not snap to the line. With glue on I never see
the connection point turn red like all of the shapes that work.

Also, as you wrote, when I drag these 3 shapes around I only see an outline
unless I go very slow. With the shapes that work I see the shape details
immediately when I move them.

The 3 shapes I am talking about are around 30 to 40 kb in size. I am
suspecting it has something to do with the bite size of the shape?????? One
of the shapes I ungrouped and took shapes out until I could group THEM again
and make the connection point work. This sounds familiar to your situation
where you add more lines and at 24 lines the shape connection point stops
responding.

I am hoping someone can help us also.

Just a thought : Do you think that using Shape / Operations / Combine, or
similar, will reduce the number of lines?
It is much better to use Combine rather than Group, if you do not need extra
colors, text or line types.

Hi David, Thanks for your suggestion. I tried it, but it did not help in my
case. If I understand it correctly, combine makes a new shape and discards
the old shapesheets. I had programming in some of the shapes I grouped. When
I combined them, I lost the programming.

I wonder if this may have helped J?
