I have 2 identical servers that will be at 2 locations connected with a T1
point to point. I am trying to figure out my best option. The second server
will basically be a disaster recovery box in case something happens to the
first. Should I use virualization or could I setup some sort of clustering?
I will be using Windows Hyper V if I go with virtualization. Any suggestions
will be great.

That is entirely up to you, and depends on your requirements. There is no
"right" solution that fits every case.

Is it a DC? A virtual machine is fine for a backup DC. If you want them
clustered, then "hardware" has to be the same, so virtualization is out of
the question.

We really need more information. What application(s) is the server
running? What OS? Is it a DC as well? What is your RPO? RTO? How
many users? What is the current size of the data set and the rate of
change?

Having a hot standby server is a great idea and virtualization can
certainly make your recovery process easier. Send more details and we
can help put together your best solution.
