This really isn't an AD question it is a VM question. My guess is the guest
machine isn't configured to talk to machines outside of the internal lan.
You need to configure the network card to use the nic of the host and allow
communications outside of its internal guest environment.
I have copied the virtual NewsGroups in to further assist.

Firewall - 2008 has it on by default. You could always turn it off for
troubleshooting and then research the ports used to turn it back on.
Correct Gateway and subnet mask? - Either of these could effect routing, dns
registration, etc...
