CAPS lock cannot be swithed off with SHIFT key on guest

If The host computer is configured to turn off the CAPS lock using the SHIFT
key, then on the guest virtual machine:
once the CAPS lock is turned on, it cannot be turned off without restaring
the guest.

Any ideas how to work-around this? I prefer using the type-writer mode i. e.
press SHIFT to turn off CAPS lock.
