Yes, you are right the Express versions can't use MFC. There used to be a
low(er) cost Standard edition which did, but that is gone from VS2010. I
would suggest looking into both the Microsoft Empower and BizSpark programs
which give you many benefits including low cost access to Visual Studio, in
exchange for developing and publishing an application:

Because, as he mentions in his post, he uses MFC, which the express
editions don't support.

Where have we seen the prices for VS2010?
Isn't it just that they are renaming the editions, to confuse us?

My apologies to you, Bert and the OP. I was obviously having a "senior
moment" and failed to read carefully enough or to remember which group I was
in.
That was my impression. "Standard" has given way to "Professional" at the
low end, then what used to be "Professional" becomes "Premium"...
