Visual Studio 6 Extremely slow, making the system slow as well...

Hi All,

I am working with Visual Studio 6.0 - SP6, and I have a workspace with
somewhat 30 C++ projects loaded into it. The problem is, after I give a
complete build, Visual Studio becomes very slow even after the build is over.

The computer altogether becomes extremely slow after this. Opening notepad
takes several seconds which otherwise would have taken less than half a
second or so.

I have checked the system resource availability in task manager and
everything seems to be in place. Not much memory is used, not much CPU usage,
GDI handles are not too high in any process etc. Nothing seems to hog system
resources.

Has anybody ever come across such a problem? What could be the reason for
this?
